pleasantly surprised

tonight walking home I saw this event take place:

two policemen got out of their car and went to this one building where this woman was sitting on the front steps. with probably one of the most caring voices i've heard in a long time, one of them said, "hi, did you call us?" "yes," she replied, "he already left." the policeman asked her, "what's going on?" "he pushed me." and by that point i was already far from them. i guess i have a stereotype about policemen. their uniforms don't help a lot - they intimidate me. and i've seen people get arrested and police brutality - both in real live and on t.v. however, the genuine concern in his voice changed everything. perhaps not all is lost in the world.
