this weekend is opening night for the show. last night we had a tech rehearsal for the first act. i forget that not everyone has a concept of what a tech rehearsal involves. it's every light cue, set cue, music cue, you name it. once the director figures out what he wants with each scene of each sketch, then you run the whole thing again to make sure the tech director, the musician, and the actors get it. if the director doesn't like it, it gets scratched and you start again. if he does, then you move on. that's how it goes. i've been doing these since i was 18.
well, last night, for act one, the tech rehearsal lasted 6 hours. today is act two, which is significantly shorter than the first act, and the tech director is predicting 4 hours instead of six - which sounds like a gift from above.
but i really can't complain. i'm enjoying every single minute of it... now if i could just nap while at work, then it would all be perfect.
